Charivari Day

Every year Folkestone is turned into Rio for the annual Charivari Day street carnival. This year is its 20th year - I've been doing the posters for the last 10ish years I think. This year the theme of the carnival is "vintage seaside" so I decided this was the only way to go!

The Hot Rod Hayride

 

I drew this design for a T shirt for this year's Hot Rod Hayride festival. It was drawn on paper with a permanent marker, and then coloured on the computer. The yellow one is for a sticker.

Each year I do lots of different designs for Carters in addition to the normal shop bills and website. These are two of the extra jobs from last year.

The Folkestone Living Advent Calendar

At Christmas Jim Jam Arts made a great, life-size advent calendar out of Folkestone. Each night at 6pm a different door in the town would open to reveal a performance. I designed and illustrated this actual advent calendar to be given out to the audiences, showing each of the doors.

City Sound Project

A double-sided A3 poster/leaflet which I was asked to make as part of the Canterbury City Sound Project music festival. The style is based on their previous designs.

Dreaming of a See-Through Christmas

This was undoubtedly one of the most difficult jobs of my career. Last Christmas an advertising agency in Switzerland asked me to produce an animation (not my area of expertise!) showing an ice cube melting to reveal a transparent watch! Mmmm.... never one to refuse a good challenge, I made this. Not quite up to Pixar standard, but I suppose you've got to start somewhere.

Performing cats

Some days my job just gets even weirder. This time it was due to Zippo from Zippo's Circus asking me to paint a domestic cat jumping through a hoop to advertise his latest act – these days I work for Carters exclusively when it comes to 'showland' but I made an exception for this one as he needed it quickly and his designer had become unavailable (and he's a nice bloke!). Oil on board, added to the poster in Photoshop.

Charivari Day

This is a poster that I designed for the annual Charivari Day carnival in Folkestone. I was taken by a font from the turn of the century that I drew from the source material specially for the poster, with a few small adaptions.
